Paul Knott moved to Macon, Georgia in 1984 to attend Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Mr. Knott had served three and a half years in the United States Army, three of those in Germany. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Wheaton College in Illinois before pursuing his legal career. Upon graduation from law school in 1987, Mr. Knott joined a firm in Macon where he practiced for seven years, becoming a partner in the firm after four years. In 1994 he left to form a new firm with George Hartwig, another local attorney. The firm of Knott & Hartwig specialized in personal injury and workers’ compensation law and continued until 2001 when Mr. Hartwig, a former police officer, decided to return to law enforcement as a prosecutor. Mr. Knott practiced alone for several years until 2004 when Michael Lemon joined the firm.
Mr. Knott has now practiced law in Macon for twenty-three years and has concentrated his efforts in the areas of workers’ compensation and personal injury. Over the years, he has represented hundreds of injured workers and those who have suffered injuries because of the negligence of others. A former bricklayer, he understands what it means to perform hard physical labor and how difficult it is to navigate the workers’ compensation system after experiencing an injury. Mr. Knott has also conducted numerous trials before local juries representing clients with claims for personal injury, medical malpractice, as well as business and contract disputes. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Macon Bar Association, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and is registered with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution as a neutral qualified to mediate civil cases of all types.
Mr. Knott’s preference is representing people who need help. He receives great satisfaction from obtaining justice for his clients and enforcing the legal rights of those who have been denied.
